“CULTURE BEYOND BORDERS” | “კულტურა საზღვრებს მიღმა” - the Polish-Georgian museum collaboration project
The core assumption of the project is the preparation and implementation of the “Cultural Institution Management Academy” program which will make it possible to create a platform for exchange of experience and best practices between Polish and Georgian cultural institutions. The project will enable to share knowledge about standards which have been developed, solutions for strategic operational areas for museums, museum management processes and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.

The project will enable to share knowledge about standards which have been developed, solutions for strategic operational areas for museums, museum management processes and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
General aims of the project:
1. Creation of lasting relations between Polish and Georgian cultural institutions.
2. Popularisation of Polish and Georgian culture in both countries.
3. Spread of the idea of engaging Georgia in a network of international cooperation through culture.
Detailed aims of the project:
1.Transfer of Polish experience in broadly understood culture among others in the fields of cultural institution management, exhibition project management, design of exhibition spaces, cultural education, marketing, new digitalisation technologies.
2. Preparation of leaders of change in the manner of operation of Georgian cultural institutions.
3.Building of intercultural competencies at the institutional and individual levels.
The operations planned will play a role in establishing long-term collaboration in the area of broadly understood cultural and museum activities aimed at spreading awareness of Polish and Georgian culture in both countries, at identifying new areas for collaboration and at building permanent relations between the staff of Polish and Georgian cultural institutions.
Ultimately the project is to be a long-term implementation covering the years from 2019 to 2023.
The first stage of the project concerns operations that will be implemented in September-December 2019.
One of these activities will be a kick-off meeting – an initial meeting between selected specialists from the National Museum in Krakow and leaders of cultural institutions in Georgia and individuals in charge of the main areas of operation of Georgian cultural institutions. The meeting will be aimed at exchanging information on Polish and Georgian experiences in terms of the organisation and operation of museum institutions, including the organisation of major processes and strategic undertakings. In addition to the presentation of selected projects implemented by the National Museum in Krakow, in particular regarding best practices, tools and standards it is also planned to discuss the formula of qualitative research aimed at analysing the needs and adapting the formula for and scope of further activities to the expectations of the participants.
The project will also include the first of a series of study visits to Georgia aimed at diagnosing the needs of Georgian institutions in terms of standards of care for collections (publications, research and scientific inquiries) as well as access to collections (planning and preparation of scenarios, conspectus, and item lists for exhibition).
The result of the project will be a summary and analysis of the obtained data and the planning of further operations for year 2020.
The project activities will be accompanied by an information and promotion campaign conducted on the basis of a comprehensive and cohesive visual identification which will serve as a characteristic recognisable sign to be used in all further informational and promotional materials published online and distributed in physical form.
