Thanks to a grant from the National Fund for the Restoration of Monuments of Krakow granted by the Social Committee for the Restoration of Monuments of Krakow later this year will be renovated facade of the Jan Matejko House.
ADAPTATION OF THE SZOŁAYSKI HOUSE TO ACCOMMODATE ITS NEW CULTURAL SERVICES
As part of the project “Development of infrastructure for culture”, financed from funds released by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture, the National Museum in Krakow carried out renovation work in the Szołayski House. This involved vital alterations in order to improve the functionality of the rooms and internal communication, and purchase of the necessary fittings and furnishings.
THE NEW SUKIENNICE
The Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art in the Sukiennice closed for renovation on 31 August 2006. Its restoration and modernization were one of the biggest conservation investments in Europe, at a total cost of PLN 8,733,610.
THE EUROPEAN CENTRE FOR POLISH NUMISMATICS
The National Museum in Krakow is in possession of a collection of 100,000 pieces that is priceless on a European scale. It includes the world’s best collection of Polish numismatics; its core is the 11,000-piece collection of the famous numismatist and collector of historical memorabilia Count Emeryk Hutten-Czapski (1828-1896).
Renovation of the historic granary and opening of the EUROPEUM
In September 2013 a new branch of the National Museum in Krakow was opened: EUROPEUM The European Culture Centre, in the historic granary at 6 Sikorskiego Square.
MUSIC BENEATH THE TATRAS
In the years 2011–2013 the National Museum in Krakow, together with its Slovak partner, the P.O. Hviezdoslav Orava Museum in Dolny Kubin, implemented the project “Muzyka pod Tatrami” (Music beneath the Tatras) as part of the Republic of Poland – Republic of Slovakia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007–2013.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE JÓZEF CZAPSKI PAVILION
In the years 2014-2016 the National Museum in Krakow is to build a Józef Czapski Pavilion within the complex of the Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Memorial Museum, a branch of the NMK.
