Musedu+

Musedu+

The National Museum in Krakow is a partner institution in the Erasmus+ project Innovative professional skills for advanced communication and museum education: Musedu+
The Musedu+ project addresses digital transformation in the museum sector, based on the "Smart" (or "+") paradigm, i.e., the use of Web 2.0 and IoT technologies. The project aims to develop an advanced model and methodology for museum innovation. New specialized professional roles and new skills for the cultural sector will be developed during the project. The project participants will exchange and integrate experiences and create a technological platform that supports and shares developed solutions and products. The project brings together institutions and international experts from the educational departments of museums and art institutions, faculty from universities in Rome and Bamberg, and companies operating in the field of new technologies.

The organization running the project is Antonio Morra Greco Foundation (Italy). The Foundation's goals are to support and develop culture, presenting Italian and international artists, both emerging and established, through events, exhibitions, and artistic residencies. The Foundation is headquartered in the Palazzo Caracciolo di Avellino, a 16th-century building in the heart of Naples' historic center.

Universities in the project
The Department of History, Cultural Heritage, Education, and Society at the University of Rome Tor Vergata provides the project with expertise in pedagogy and psychology. In particular, it provides essential support in designing and implementing innovative teaching strategies aimed at encouraging users to interact with cultural heritage, both physically and digitally.

Research at the University of Bamberg is characterized by an interdisciplinary and interconnected approach. The Institute of Archaeology, Heritage Conservation and Art History is one of the leading interdisciplinary training and research centers in the field of heritage conservation and conservation science in Germany. It houses the new Center for Heritage Conservation Studies and Technology (KDWT), encompassing four interdisciplinary areas: heritage conservation, building history, building archaeology, conservation science, and digital technologies in heritage conservation.
Cultural institutions
The Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is a key landmark in Spain's artistic and cultural landscape. Managed by the Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection Foundation (F.S.P.), the museum houses one of the most important painting collections in the world, with nearly 900 works amassed by the Thyssen-Bornemisza family over seven decades.

The Museum of Art of Catalonia, housed in the impressive Palau Nacional de Montjuïc, has a history dating back to 1934, when it opened its doors as the Museum of Art of Catalonia, presenting its valuable medieval collections to the public. Over the years, it has expanded its offer, adding rooms dedicated to Romanesque art in 1995 and presenting contemporary art in 2004. As a public institution, the museum is committed to promoting the social and educational use of its spaces, aiming to become a center of knowledge, debate, and participation, and to offer a chronologically unconstrained vision of Catalan art, striving to broaden research and increase its visibility both nationally and internationally.

The National Museum in Krakow plays a significant role in the Musedu+ project thanks to its experience in European projects focused on digitization and education. The National Museum in Krakow has long been actively involved in the development of the cultural sector by collaborating with European partners, researching, and creating new offerings for professionals and the public.
Technology partners
DATABENC, a consortium of advanced technologies for cultural heritage, is a network of public and private entities (institutions, universities, research centers) that leverages the innovative capital of each (scientific, technological, economic, relational, social) to generate, disseminate, and create shareable value. Since 2012, it has implemented projects worth approximately €100 million and coordinated initiatives worth approximately €30 million. DATABENC brings together approximately 60 operational members, including four leading universities in Campania and major regional and national research centers, such as the National Research Council (CNR). Each member contributes to industrial and/or research activities.
Activities carried out within Musedu+ include:
  • research on the Museum+ model and related methodologies for educational and communication activities,
  • action research involving cultural institutions and their recipients, aiming to design new specialist professional roles trained to work with new technologies
  • the technological system of the MusEdu+ platform - creating a digital platform and developing a training program for postgraduate studies related to culture
  • exchange of experiences and development of knowledge of project participants
  • preparation of a publication presenting the knowledge gathered in the project
