  Zofia Matuszczyk-Cygańska – fabric exhibition

  Zofia Matuszczyk-Cygańska (1915–2011) – a Polish designer of useful fabrics, an author of artistic fabrics in the tapestry technique, a painter uses in her work not only paints, but also colorful threads to build expressive, suggestive images.

  Stanisław August Poniatowski. The Enlightened King

  On the occasion of the 290th anniversary of the birth (17 January 1732), 258th anniversary of the coronation (25 November 1764), and 227the anniversary of the abdication (25 November 1795) of king Stanisław August Poniatowski, the last ruler of the Republic of Two Nations also known as the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the National Museum in Krakow invites visitors to an exhibition presenting items related the life and reign of the king.

The National Museum in Krakow declares institution's corporate social responsibility mission

The National Museum in Krakow, as one of the most important cultural institutions in the country, develops standards of operation that can become a model for other entities. One of the challenges associated with this role was to create a document regulating the obligations of the NMK in the field of social responsibility. As important as the new implementations are in this case, it is just as important to transparently communicate the changes being made. This was the purpose of the meeting and mission presentation that took place on October 6, 2022 at the MNK Main Building.

  ELECTED KINGS – THE WETTINS

  The Graphic Arts Room of the Princes Czartoryski Museum presents a new set of etchings from its collections. These portraits and illustrations of various events and ceremonies are associated with the reign of the elected kings of Poland, the Wettin dynasty. The works presented were created by
  outstanding artists of the 17^th and 18^th centuries, including Dutch, Italian, and Germain artists, including from the Augsburg school.

  Seals and seal matrices

  Seals and seal matrices are two closely related concepts; the former is a sign (either graphic or in the form of an inscription) representing an individual or institution and indicating individual property, while a seal matrix is the object with which this sign is created and repeated. We commonly call a seal any kind of stamped or embossed sign, regardless of the material it is made of.

  Mirys. Portraits

  The now largely forgotten Augustyn Mirys (1700-1790) was one of the most fascinating painters active in the late Baroque period in Poland. Scottish by descent but born in France and undertaking professional activity in Italy, he ultimately settled in Poland, where he spent the remainder of his life creating numerous works for the aristocratic elite of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The exhibition being presented at the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace brings together his finest portraits from museums in Poland, Lithuania, and Ukraine; it was in portraits that the talent of Mirys is most fully revealed.
