  Mysteries of Saint Stephen. Unknown Painting by Hans von Aachen

  The National Museum in Krakow continues a series of presentations of outstanding but less known, or sometimes unknown, works of European art in Polish collections. Following a show of a privately owned relief by Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini, the Europeum Centre for European Culture will put on view one of the most valuable pieces of painting discovered lately in Krakow: The Lapidation of Saint Stephen, an oil on canvas from a church devoted to that saint, from November 8 on.

  The Formists

  The exhibition, organised by the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland in conjunction with the National Museum in Krakow, will be held in the foyer leading to the Chapel in the Presidential Palace. In keeping with the religious character of its location, the exhibition will focus on the sacral art of the Formists, an artistic group established in Krakow in 1917 by Tytus Czyżewski and the brothers Andrzej and Zbigniew Pronaszko.

Andrzej Wajda's Passing

Andrzej Wajda – one of the most prominent Polish filmmakers, an outstanding film, theatre and television director – died on 9 October 2016. He was the author of forty unforgettable works such as 'Everything for Sale' ('Wszystko na sprzedaż'), 'The Wedding' ('Wesele'), 'The Promised Land' ('Ziemia Obiecana'), 'The Ashes' ('Popioły'), 'Man of Marble' ('Człowiek z marmuru'), 'Pan Tadeusz' or 'Katyń'.

Last days of the 'Maria Mater Misericordiae' exhibition

During the last two weekends of the exhibition (1-2 Oct and 8-9 Nov), the opening hours of the exhibition will be extended. Visitors are invited to partake of additional guided tours and enjoy the concert.
