Hungarian art at the NMK
-
The exhibition titled 'Golden Age of Hungarian Painting (1836-1936)' presents 89 paintings created from the 1830s to the 1930s. It was a century of intense development of Hungarian art, from the birth of national painting through its links with Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Art Nouveau, and avant-garde trends in the art of the 20th century to art deco.
The exhibition allows its visitors to explore the modern heritage of this part of Central Europe. It is a joint project of the National Museum in Krakow, Gábor Kovács Art Foundation and the Hungarian National Gallery – Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. The display is complemented by works from the Budapest History Museum – Metropolitan Pinacoteca.
The exhibition is on display in the Main Building of the NMK (al. 3 Maja 1, Kraków).
