GUIDED TOURS In Polish PLN 130/foreign language PLN 150 + entrance tickets to an exhibition Available languages: Polish, English, Russian PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILMING Amateur photography and filming involving no artificial light or tripods is free of charge and is limited only to permanent exhibitions in the National Museum in Krakow. Dear Visitors, The Stanisław Wyspiański Museum is a small museum in which we display only a small part of Stanisław Wyspiański's art legacy. Because of the specific artistic conservation methods, most of his works cannot be presented to the public for a prolonged period of time. The pastel drawings on paper (Stanisław Wyspiański's main characteristic technique) are highly sensitive to light exposure. Light is one of the most destructive factors to paper, which manifests in degradation and discoloration, as well as fading of many pigments. For the reasons listed above, we decided to present to the public only fragments of the exhibition, each in two scenes which change periodically over the year. Moreover, because of the constant need of conservation inspections, the collection will be available to visitors only 4 days a week. On top of that, the objects in question may be temporarily withdrawn from the public display when necessary. Our main goal is to preserve the Wyspianski's artwork in the best conserved state for the future generations, and at the same time try to spread knowledge about his art to all. In order to reconcile these two mutually exclusive goals, we have introduced solutions that, on the one hand, give a chance to see at least some of his artwork, and on the other, introduce some limitations that will help us protect the objects. All in all, we sincerely count on your understanding of those limitations that we have introduced. We wish you many wonderful encounters with the art of Stanisław Wyspiański and kindly invite you to our museum. |
