MNK The Main Building - About the branch

Some of the particularly noteworthy temporary exhibitions popularising early printmaking presented cycles of Albrecht Dürer’s prints and Lesson in Romanticism According to Goya, which featured
four complete series of prints by the great Spanish artist, owned by the Museum. Another example was the recent exhibition of Netherlandinsh prints and drawings. Achievements of Krakow-based contemporary printmakers were displayed as part of the series titled Graphic Artists from Krakow. The Museum continues a series of displays titled Graphic Arts in Krakow - carried out in cooperation with the Association of Polish Artists and Designers - by presenting the winning works and honorary mentions of Best Print of the Month and Best Print of the Year competitions.

The Museum also holds exhibition cycles connected with the anthropological aspect of the Museum’s activity. One of the most significant of them – To Jan Matejko on the 100th Anniversary of His Death – constituted the first attempt to examine the reception of the painter’s work. Another exhibition titled Malinowski – Witkacy. Photography: Between Science and Art, presents the research documentation developed by the great Polish anthropologist Bronisław Malinowski and photographs by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. The popular exhibition »Pan Tadeusz« – Film Art at the Museum, was quite unique in nature and used our militaria and decorative arts galleries as an integral part of the display.

National minorities became the subject of exhibitions such as: Jews of Poland and Polish Armenians. Separateness and Assimilation.
