  A display of ciborium by Giovanni Maria Padovano

  For the first time in 368 years, the interiors of the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace present the combined elements of the Renaissance sacrarium from the Wawel Cathedral. Commissioned by Bishop Piotr Tomicki in the 1530s, it was made from red Hungarian marble by a famous Italian sculptor Giovanni Maria Mosca, known as Padovano. The exhibition will be open until 24 May.

  Zygmunt Radnicki (1894-1969)

  Zygmunt Radnicki was one of the youngest representatives of the generation of artists who formed modern art in Poland. The works of this outstanding painter from the years 1913-1969 are presented at the exhibitions in the Main Building of the National Museum in Krakow and in the newly opened Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, which are jointly organized by the two institutions.

  In the Realm of the Dragon. Chinese Art in the Collections of the National Museum in Krakow

  Portrait of Walerian Kryciński - Maurycy Gottlieb

  This work by Maurycy Gottlieb is a portrait of his good friend and fellow student – Walerian Kryciński. It was painted in 1875 during their stay in Vienna, when they shared an apartment together with other friends. They were both students of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, directed by Jan Matejko.

  Maurycy Gottlieb. In search of identity

  Maurycy Gottlieb's life lasted only 23 years - too short to enjoy the same fame as his younger brother Leopold Gottlieb did. And yet, Maurycy Gottlieb is the most important Jewish painter active in the Polish circles of the 19th century. The exhibition in The Szołayski House – Branch of the National Museum in Krakow – presented 46 works by the artist on loan from Polish and foreign institutions. It constituted the artist's symbolic return home.

  Karol Szymanowski biographical museum

  Before the opening of the Karol Szymanowski Museum in Villa 'Atma' in Zakopane in 1976, the National Museum in Krakow held an exhibition with musical elements, which presented the life and art of the renowned composer who lived in 'Atma' from 1930 to 1935.

  Biographical Museum of Jan Matejko

  The permanent exhibition is housed in the family home of Jan Matejko (1838-1893), the greatest Polish artist working in the genre of history painting, a collector and an enthusiast for monuments, particularly those in Krakow. The old Krakow building (rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries) is the place where Jan Matejko was born, lived with his family, created his paintings and passed away.

  Gallery of Decorative Art

  The Gallery of Decorative Art at the National Museum in Krakow is the largest permanent exhibition of this type in Poland. The displayed objects are arranged in a chronological order from the Early Middle Ages to the Art Nouveau period. The exhibition, with its stylishly arranged interiors and its collection of gold, fabrics, clothing, furniture, ceramics and glassware, complete with a unique collection of musical instruments and judaica, features nearly 4,000 exhibits presented in nine exhibition rooms and two annexes.
