Announcement of the results of the competition for the modernization of the Main Building
The public announcement of the results of the competition for the development of an architectural concept for the reconstruction, expansion and superstructure of the Main Building of the National Museum in Krakow will take place in the lobby of the Main Building (Al. 3 Maja 1) on 16 October 2015, at 12 p.m.
The competition calls for an architectural concept for the functional arrangement of the provided utility programme in a modern and attractively formed interior of the existing Museum building.
Due to the fact that the building, whose construction began in the 1930s, cannot currently be rationally used for the functions of a contemporary museum, it became necessary to reconstruct it in order to obtain a facility which will be comfortable in use, flexible in management, functional, and which will meet the requirements of a contemporary museum.
The aim of the Competition is to obtain the finest, most valuable concept in terms of artistic and utilitarian aspects – in accordance with the evaluation criteria.
150 requests to participate in the Competition were submitted within the deadline.
After the completion of the evaluation of applications and the accompanying documents, as well as requesting the Competition Participants to supplement or clarify their proposals, and their further re-evaluation, 128 Participants were invited to submit their entries.
22 competition entries were submitted within the deadline.
The announcement of the Competition results will be accompanied by an exhibition of competition entries which will remain on display until 22 November 2015.
