  The Cabinet of Prints and Drawings of the Princes Czartoryski Museum presents a new set of prints from the collection. Portraits and representations of various ceremonies are connected with the reign of the elected kings of Poland, this time starting with John II Casimir Vasa. The exhibited engravings are works by outstanding Dutch, Italian, German, Gdansk and Augsburg artists of the 17th-18th centuries.

  Robert Kuśmirowski – Graduation Tower

  Graduation towers, occasionally referred to as thorn houses, are wooden structures covered with blackthorn bundles, which originally served to make the water in the saline solution evaporate to produce salt used for kitchen and medicinal purposes. The first graduation towers used in salt production were erected in the seventeenth century.

New contemporary works of art in the NMK collection

Thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the programme „Collections” 2015 (Priority - "Regional collections of contemporary art"), the National Museum in Krakow acquired for its collections forty-six outstanding works by such artists as Stanisław Wójtowicz, Barbara Zbrożyna, Lucjan Mianowski, Jarosław Modzelewski, Ignacy Czwartos, Zuzanna Janin.

Selected works by Stanisław Wyspiański

Stanisław Wyspiański's versatile talent places him – an artist so strongly associated with Krakow – among the greatest personalities of Polish modernism. His paintings and prints are commonly known, though he was just as passionate about typography and decorative arts. He will also remain in our collective memory as a writer of poetry and dramas. The National Museum in Krakow holds the largest collection of works by Wyspiański in Poland. We encourage everyone to explore our virtual gallery of selected works of the artist – both his most famous works, most widely reproduced and close to the heart of every Pole, and those less popular, but equally outstanding.
