  Jan Matejko. Various Stories

  A temporary exhibition, integrated into the permanent exhibition of Jan Matejko's biographical museum, has been created around stories that are the subject of eight oil sketches and paintings by the artist – intimate historical compositions, sketches for large canvases, images of historical figures and portraits – created in various periods of his  work.

  Gisèle Freund. Photographic scenes and portraits

  The colour portraits of the 20th-century artists created by Gisele Freund (1908-2000) after her escape from Berlin to Paris in 1933, and throughout her travels spanning over the decades, have long been among the icons of photography. The exhibition presents a diverse perspective of this famous photographic oeuvre.

15 September saw the opening of the exhibition titled Love Affair with Graphics. From Albers to Vostell in the Main Building of the National Museum in Krakow.

  Love Affair with Graphics. From Albers to Vostell

  The exhibition presents 92 works authored by 35 prominent and recognized artists from the second half of the 20th century, originally from Europe and the USA, including Karel Appel, Arman, George Baselitz, Louise Bourgeois, Sophie Calle, Allen Jones, Roberto Matta, Mimmo Paladino, Roy Lichtenstein and others. The prints are on loan from the permanent collection Le Centre de la Gravure et de l'Image imprimée de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles in La Louvière (Belgium).

Love Affair with Graphics

The exhibition Love Affair with Graphics, presented in the Main Building of the National Museum in Krakow, features works of the most prominent personages of contemporary art such as Karel Appel, Arman, Georg Baselitz, Louise Bourgeois, Sophie Calle, Allen Jones, Roberto Matta and Mimmo Paladino – artists who in their creative process applied printmaking as a medium of art.

  In the Realm of the Dragon. Chinese Art in the Collections of the National Museum in Krakow

  The exhibition presents 400 finest works selected from a priceless collection of Chinese art, numbering over 3,000 objects. The oldest exhibits date back to 2200 years ago, while the newest are over a hundred year old.

  Maurycy Gottlieb. In search of identity

  Maurycy Gottlieb's life lasted only 23 years - too short to enjoy the same fame as his younger brother Leopold Gottlieb did. And yet, Maurycy Gottlieb is the most important Jewish painter active in the Polish circles of the 19th century. The exhibition in The Szołayski House – Branch of the National Museum in Krakow – presented 46 works by the artist on loan from Polish and foreign institutions. It constituted the artist's symbolic return home.
