  The Master and Catherine. Hans Suess von Kulmbach and his works for Krakow

  The early Renaissance period master, Hans Suess von Kulmbach, was one of the most outstanding artists working in Albrecht Dürer's circle – a renowned painter, printmaker, illuminator and stained glass window designer. In spite of this, little is known about his life, or whether or not he visited the Royal Town while executing commissions for Krakow.

  Poland. Piotr Uklański

  Piotr Uklański exhibition at the National Museum is the first Krakow presentation of the works of this artist, who is renowned in Poland as well as abroad. The reflection upon national iconography that he has been developing for over two decades – including the iconic works Solidarity, John Paul II, Polesploitation – assume the form of the exhibition this time. The theme of the new cycle of over fifty photographs is Poland. Colorful, as well as black and white photographs shown in the temporary exhibition room of the NMK, stress the artist's interest in the native landscape and national myths.

  Boards, leathers and enclosures. The works of old-days bookbinders

  Old books – being valuable objects – were secured with strong bindings. In the centuries between 15th and 16th, bookbinders used boards covered with leather, and later also cardboard, in order to stiffen sewn sheets of paper or parchment. The leather on the covers and spine was decorated – with the technique of engraving or carving called blind tooling.

  Poland in landscapes

  "Poland in landscapes" is another presentation of Polish art in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, prepared for the third time by the National Museum in Krakow. During such an important year of the 100th anniversary of Polish Independence, in such a significant place as the seat of the President of the Republic of Poland, in representative rooms, where the most important national events take place, the gallery of the most beautiful landscapes in Polish art is presented.

  Wyspiański
