Sztuka Teraz

12.01-10.02.2019 Sztuka Teraz
Available for the physically impaired WiFi

For the third time already, the halls of the National Museum in Krakow will host an exhibition prepared as part of the “Sztuka Teraz” (Art now) project. This is an exceptional, ambitious, and essential initiative which combines the popularisation of art with the idea of wisely providing aid to the needy.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see 100 works of outstanding artists. Both experienced and recognizable figures such as Norman Leto, Edward Dwurnik, Henryk Sawka, the Krasnals, Adam Bakalarz, and Edward Lutczyn, as well as artists making their debut. They have been selected by a group of experts in the field of art and culture from among more than 800 proposals submitted to the project.

These works, done in a variety of techniques, formats, and styles, speak of the world around us. They deal with both the exceptional and the mundane, with harmony and anxiety, with a fairy-tale vision and terror. They intrigue and move the viewer, provoking questions.

The exhibition is intended in varying degree for experienced collectors and for those just beginning in the art world, who dream of building their own collections. The project attempts to somewhat tame the often difficult world of modern art and show ways to understand it.

The “Sztuka Teraz” project has been organized by Stowarzyszenie Wiosna (the Spring Society, known for its work with the Noble Gift charity scheme) and by the National Museum in Krakow. The project is partly financed by the Lotto National Lottery Foundation in Poland.

The exhibition opens 12 January 2019 at the main building of the National Museum in Krakow. Slightly later, on 20 February 2019, the Desa Unicum Auction House will host a prestigious charity auction featuring the works presented during the project. Revenue from the auctioned works will be handed over to the Noble Gift charity scheme, which for 18 years has been helping those most in need.

The partners of “Sztuka Teraz” include the National Centre for Culture, the Niezła Sztuka website dedicated to the promotion of Polish art, the "Rynek i Sztuka" art investment website, ArtInfo.pl, TVP Kultura, and the Łódź Film School.
