SPEKTRUM – meeting in Kraków

The final meeting of SPEKTRUM project took place in Kraków, Poland, from 6th to 8th of October in 2022. The National Museum in Krakow was a host and organiser of events.
The main goals of the partners meeting in Kraków were: 
  • to present final results of longterm cooperation to a broader audience during The Open Day of SPEKTRUM Project, adressed to Polish museums and other cultural institutions employees.
  • to evaluate and summarize work of project’s participants

THURSDAY | 6TH OF OCTOBER
The Open Day of SPEKTRUM project

Starting from 10:30 and presentation of the #responsiblemuseum and Spektrum project provided by Tomasz Ostrowski deputy Director for Communication and Strategy of MNK and Anna Berkowicz’s speech about overall project development, chosen members of SPEKTRUM project had presented documents - their goals, structure and possible practical use:
  • Paul Swift | General Guidelines for making museums autism-friendly
  • Alexander Vander Stichele | The Checklist
  • Carlo De Medio | EduTool Kit
  • Covadonga Rodrigo | SPEKTRUM NOOC
Moreover, Beata Cichy and Iwona Parzyńska provided informations about how National Museum had adapted autism-friendly solutions in some branches and how these tools can help us in further plans of becoming more open as an institution. 



After short coffee break, our guests participated in one of the planned meetings:
  • The Checklist (at the Kamienica Szołayskich) - workshop | Alexander & Beata
  • Edutool Kit (the Main Building, Gallery of XX-XXI century Polish Art ) - workshop | Carlo, Anna Walczyk & Anna Sokulska (educator of MNK)
  • Open Princes Czartoryski Museum - workshop | Katarzyna
  • meeting with Anthony Richards and Agata Małodobry - Autism in museums. From closed doors to open days.



After Open Day’s conference and meetings, partners went on their own to temporal and permanent exhibitions in the Main Building of MNK (Tamara Łempicka, The New Beginning. Modernism in the Second Polish Republic, The 20 + 21 c. Polish Art Gallery). At 19:00 the team started the LAST SUPPER in an restaurant located in Kazimierz District.
FRIDAY | 7TH OF OCTOBER
Partner’s last meeting

The team opened a new day with manual workshop with serigraph print in The Main Building in workshops hall. The MNK colleague, Joanna Zaguła, has prepared three different screeprints, including SPEKTRUM’s logo, which was printed on cotton bags and shirts.



Later that day Anna Walczyk took guests to the meeting with LANBOZ employees (The Laboratory of Analysis and Nondestructive Investigation of Heritage Objects - department of MNK which is described as modern scientific unit conducting world-class specialist research, inspiring collaboration with teams of scientists outside the museum, disseminating knowledge, and training young researchers and conservators.) 

LANBOZ unit is placed in Łozinski’s Kamienica, close to one of MNK’s branches. 

Meanwhile our guests from Belgium - Katrijn D'hamers from FARO and Liesa Rutsaert from IndustrieMuseum in Gent, meet with Iwona and MIK’s specialists on inclusive projects for people with disabilities.

The afternoon was time for last formal meeting of members of SPEKTRUM project. The meeting took in workshops hall in Kamienica Szołayskich. The final evaluation was prepared by Paul Swift and Beata Cichy, including lots of activities, emotional stories and hard data summarizing. The meeting has ended with writing anonymous postcards to partners, describing what was excellent about project, what could have been better and some nice things to this member only :)




SATURDAY | 8TH OF OCTOBER
Guided tour in Nowa Huta

After two days of team’s work, partners were invited to Nowa Huta district, Kraków’s district for non-compulsory sightseeing of ex-communist paradise city.
