She stands close to a wall, beside a piano on the right of the frame, partly leaning against it. On the wall behind her hangs a large horizontal painting in a heavy dark frame, cut off by the photograph’s edge, with two smaller reproductions tacked loosely beneath it. Atop the piano are vases and potted flowers, while above it hangs a medium-sized vertical painting in a gilded frame, depicting a landscape with a figure.

In the lower left corner, the corner of a table intrudes into the frame, partially obscuring Boznańska’s figure below the hips. The tabletop is covered with a dark cloth and holds indistinct objects, likely books or small boxes stacked horizontally.
