"Spektrum" project

The National Museum in Krakow is the leader of the "Spektrum" project under "Erasmus+ Youth. Action 2 - Strategic Partnerships". The NMK runs the "Spektrum" project drawing on the rich and long-standing experience of European partners in working with people on the autism spectrum. The main idea behind our efforts was to develop a strategy to make museums in Poland more friendly to people on the autism spectrum.

Due to the decision of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, all branches of the National Museum in Krakow (including the Princes Czartoryski Museum) are closed to visitors from March 12 until further notice.

  Miracle of Light. Medieval Stained Glass in Poland

  In the Middle Ages, stained glass windows in churches were a huge artistic, technical and financial challenge, thus confirming the principals' prestige. Early Modern was a period when these stained glass windows were being removed, so that a very small percentage has survived to this day. Despite the fascination it stirred in the nineteenth century, stained glass was regarded as a decorative art and was much underrated, and still is - like the light and color that combine to create it - a phenomenon as fascinating as it is elusive.

This is why only part of the works is exposed, it is dim and the lack of labels is compensated by a special booklet. A group of international students living in Krakow accepted the challenge of their own interpretation of the Treasury and Wyspiański’s works. They invite you to discover the space together during three thematic walks.

  Images of writing people – authors and their works

  Woodcut portrait of Mikołaj Rej from the Krakow edition of Zwierzyniec (Bestiary) of 1574, and the lithograph bust of Adam Mickiewicz from the Warsaw edition of Poetry of 1833 – these and other portraits of wordsmiths are shown at the exhibition devoted to the images of authors and their works.

The Princes Czartoryski Museum re-opened

The Lady with an Ermine by Leonardo da Vinci or the Landscape with the Good Samaritan by Rembrandt van Rijn will again be displayed at Pijarska Street in Krakow. The most valuable Polish art collection will once again appear in the renovated Palace. The Princes Czartoryski Museum, a branch of the National Museum in Krakow, will be inviting visitors from December 20, 2019.

“CULTURE BEYOND BORDERS” | “კულტურა საზღვრებს მიღმა” - the Polish-Georgian museum collaboration project

The core assumption of the project is the preparation and implementation of the “Cultural Institution Management Academy” program which will make it possible to create a platform for exchange of experience and best practices between Polish and Georgian cultural institutions. The project will enable to share knowledge about standards which have been developed, solutions for strategic operational areas for museums, museum management processes and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.

  Wyspiański. Treasures from Lviv

  The Boris Voznitsky Lviv National Art Gallery in Lviv holds an extraordinary collection of works by Stanisław Wyspiański, including four pastel portraits from the years 1893–1894 as well as sixty four loose sketches and drawing studies.

  Here comes Youth. The First Krakow Group

  The exhibition tells the story of a short, yet vivid existence of the first Krakow Group, of the life and works of colorful and outstanding youths, whose intertwined fates were part of the history of Polish avant-garde. Aleksander (Sasza) Blonder (pseudonym André Blondel), Blima (Berta) Grünberg, Maria Jarema, Franciszek Jaźwiecki, Leopold Lewicki, Adam Marczyński, Stanisław Osostowicz, Szymon Piasecki, Mojżesz Schwanenfeld, Bolesław Stawiński, Jonasz Stern, Eugeniusz Waniek, Henryk Wiciński, Aleksander Winnicki – these are the members of the first pre-war Krakow Group.
