23 April saw the opening of an exhibition titled Between the East and the West. From Damascus to Andalusia: Islamic Coins in the Middle Ages at the Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Museum. The exhibition presents hundreds of coins which illustrate the history of the Arab world from the times of Muhammad till the decline of the Abbasid Caliphate – from the 7th to the mid-13th century.
