  Exhibition: “What did people read in home alcoves?”

  This exhibition is dedicated to the books that were read in quiet alcoves in the home, a space that allowed readers to explore their private interests and deepen their knowledge, as well as to read for the sheer pleasure and entertainment of reading. Here we will find religious texts and travelogues spanning the 16th to 19th centuries as well as maps and atlases.

  The manuscripts collection was initiated through a donation from the Czapski family in form of Emeryk Hutten-Czapski's library containing over eight thousand items.

Military old prints in the NMK collections

Priceless copies of old prints and cartographic objects from the NMK collections can be admired in the Czapski Palace. The items are exhibited in the 19th-century private library – one of the few preserved fully equipped rooms of this type.
