  Poland. Piotr Uklański

  Piotr Uklański exhibition at the National Museum is the first Krakow presentation of the works of this artist, who is renowned in Poland as well as abroad. The reflection upon national iconography that he has been developing for over two decades – including the iconic works Solidarity, John Paul II, Polesploitation – assume the form of the exhibition this time. The theme of the new cycle of over fifty photographs is Poland. Colorful, as well as black and white photographs shown in the temporary exhibition room of the NMK, stress the artist's interest in the native landscape and national myths.

  Restored masterpiece by El Greco

  El Greco is one of the most important artists in the history of art, while his 'Ecstasy of St. Francis' is one of the most valuable paintings in Polish collections. Having undergone a thorough conservation process, the masterpiece can now be admired in the Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art in the Sukiennice. Following the exhibition, the painting will return to Siedlce, where it will be on permanent display in the Diocesan Museum.

  Pilgrims, Travellers, Tourists – Exploring the World

  The exhibition titled Pilgrims, Travellers, Tourists – Exploring the World. From the NMK Collection of Old Prints and Maps presents a selection of 60 works dating back to the period from the 15th to the 19th century and devoted to travels, which we learn about through memoirs and literature related to historiography and geography. The old volumes are accompanied by 19 antique maps and atlases.
