Xawery Dunikowski – one of the most prominent sculptors in Polish art, a Symbolist.
He boldly sought radical simplification of form and remarkably meaningful, tangible expression of the composition, which endowed his sculptures with powerful and disturbing inner tension.
In 1904, art critic Cezary Jellenta wrote the following words about him: 'Among the werewolves of modern sculpture: Rodin, Meunier, Vigeland, Biegas, Flaum – he is the youngest and wildest'.
