Maurycy Gottlieb lived only 23 years - it's too short to enjoy the same reputation as his younger brother Leopold. Despite this, Maurycy Gottlieb is the most important Jewish painter who had created in the Polish environment in the 19th century. At the exhibition Maurycy Gottlieb. In Search of Identity which was presented in the Szołayski House - Branch of the National Museum in Krakow visitors could see the 46 works created by Maurycy Gottlieb on loan from Polish and foreign culture institutions. It was a symbolic return of the artist's to his home.
