The first plans for the monograph exhibit of Szymon Czechowicz were outlined as early as 2011, but did not come into effect until 2016. First of all, the draft catalogue of all known Czechowicz’s paintings has been written, and based on its content the prospective exhbits has been singled out. All of them was then reviewed by the curator and the conservator during numerous trips throughout Poland and abroad, which is what present the attached pictures. Most of the work was nevertheless done in a simple and plain way: at a desk or at a conservator’s easel. For the chosen items the loan procedures had to be fulfilled, which was especially difficult for international loans. Some items were restored – a complicated and time-consuming process. We had to set up an exhibition catalogue (more than 40 authors), design and create the exhibition space, make marketing plans, as well as to arrange for educational activities. All the exhibition items must be now gathered in the museum (from more than 50 places). Not everything is done yet, but within two months the exhibition will be ready to invite the first visitors who will enter its premises on May 8, 2020, to see more than 200 items: paintings by Szymon Czechowicz and his contemporaries.
