Farve Ensemble in cooperation with the National Museum in Krakow invites to a concert of Polish music of the 19th century in ensemble-own arrangements for clarinet, viola and piano, which will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace placed at 17 Kanonicza Street in Krakow.

Chamber music, in which composers juxtapose the sound of the clarinet, viola and piano, are unusual and, at the same time, extremely interesting items in music literature. Beginning with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his Kegelstatt Trio in E flat major KV 498 from 1788, works for this line-up were composed by, for example, Robert Schumann, Max Bruch, Jean Fraçaix, Györgi Kurtág and Jörg Widmann. Due to the fact that there is only one original piece for such ensemble in Polish music literature, the Farve Ensemble decided to make an attempt to enrich the repertoire by making original transcriptions of significant chamber works by selected Polish composers active in the 19th century. It is a kind of tribute to the performing tradition functioning at that time, which consisted in adapting by musicians pieces intended for other ensembles to perform on their instruments. As a result, the concert will present the following arrangements for clarinet, viola and piano:

Grand Trio Es-major 4 by Franciszek Lessel
Romance by Antoni Stolpe
Trio g-minor 8 by Fryderyk Chopin
Farve Ensemble are: Agnieszka Riess (piano), Tomasz Sowa (clarinet), Paweł Riess (viola and authorship of transcriptions)

Admission to the concert is free. Due to pandemic restrictions, the number of seats remains limited, therefore prior booking is required, which can be made by e-mail (booking@mnk.pl) or by phone (+48 12 433 57 44)

The concert and transcriptions can be prepared thanks to the scholarship of the Minister of Culture, Art, National Heritage and Sport.
