This horizontal composition depicts the left profile of a woman shown from the shoulders up. She is seated in an enclosed interior at a table with a light-coloured surface. The light source comes from above and the left. The colour palette is limited to shades of black and grey.
The woman is positioned at the centre of the composition. Her back is turned to the viewer, with her head facing right. Her black hair is gathered in a low bun. A small golden hairclip is pinned in her hair. She has short, dark eyebrows, a long straight nose, and closed eyes. Her lips are slightly parted, and her jaw is pushed forward. Her neck and shoulders are bare. A portion of a dark garment is visible on her back.
She sits at an empty table that spans the entire width of the image. The upper part of the composition is filled with a black area containing irregular grey shapes, representing the background of the room.
In the lower right section, just above the corner, is a small artist’s signature written in black ink: M. Jakimowicz / Paris.
