Glaze Painting Competition „Flowers”

Flowers in painting have never been just decoration - they tell a story of time, transience, and attentive observation. This theme is at the heart of the second edition of the international Glaze Painting Competition “Flowers,” inviting artists of all ages to offer their own interpretation of floral motifs. The winner will receive a prize of €10,000.
This year’s theme draws inspiration from both nature and the tradition of the Dutch Golden Age of painting, when floral still lifes became an independent and highly popular subject in art. Subsequent generations of artists have eagerly reinterpreted it, with iconic examples by Vincent van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe, and David Hockney.

Competition entries will be created using the new version of Glaze - the award-winning painting app, developed by the Krakow-based company Well of Art, recognized for faithfully reproducing the oil painting techniques of the old masters. The new Glaze functions as a modern art studio and educational platform, offering users endless inspiration to create and refine their craft. New sections - “Museums,” “Artists,” and “My Collection” - encourage deep engagement with art history and the world’s museum collections. The app is available free of charge to competition participants.

The submission deadline is January 2027. The Grand Prix is €10,000, with additional awards in four age categories. Entries will be judged by an international panel of experts, announced in May at the American Alliance of Museums conference in Philadelphia. In the previous edition, “Return of Raphael,”, organized together with the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków, the jury included representatives from leading institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Sotheby’s Institute in New York.

The strategic partner of the competition is Colnaghi Gallery (New York, London, Madrid, Brussels), the world’s oldest private art gallery, founded in 1760. A growing number of supporting institutions include Stanford Children’s Hospital, the National Museum in Krakow, and the National Museum in Gdańsk, which have provided selected works from their collections as inspiration for participants.
