Technique: Hand-formed glazed ceramics

Dimensions: Variable, depending on the series (usually about 25-30 cm high)

Year of creation: 2020

Collection: contemporary utility design

General description: the BUMPS 2.0 decanter is an original and expressive ceramic object, which combines utilitarian function with artistic design. The shape resembles a vase - the upper part is a slender neck, the lower part is wide, with numerous protuberances. The whole is filled with intense black. The heterogeneous shape and slippery texture make the light reflect on the surface of the whole object.

Detailed description: the decanter resembles a vase in shape. It has a slender, straight neck at the top ending in a round opening. It contrasts with the richly decorated body with numerous protuberances. They are spherical and resemble blisters. The surface was covered with a glaze of intense black color. Light reflects off the rounded elements, marking their shapes. Numerous golden flashes are visible, giving the decanter depth and elegance.

Arkadiusz Szwed is a respected Polish ceramics designer, known for his innovative approach to traditional techniques and unconventional style. In his works, he explores the boundaries between function and form, playing with material and texture. The BUMPS collection is an example of design inspired by the natural world, biomorphism and experimental structures that allude to organic phenomena and biological processes.

The BUMPS 2.0 decanter is both a utilitarian and aesthetic object. Thanks to its unique form, it is a strong decorative accent that attracts attention.

The project has won recognition not only in Poland, but also at international exhibitions, showing that contemporary design can be both functional and artistic.

The choice of dark colors and bold textures is in keeping with the aesthetics of modern minimalism with a hint of the avant-garde. In creating the object, Swede draws attention to the process - both technical and conceptual - that transforms simple ceramics into a vehicle for artistic expression.
