Information on discounts
§ 1.
I. Reduced tickets are available upon presentation of the appropriate documents:
1) to pupils of the education system, students of colleges of social service workers, university students, and persons enrolled in doctoral studies who are citizens of the Member States of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, and the Member States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area,
2) to persons over 65 years of age, retirees, pensioners, recipients of social disability pensions, as well as persons with disabilities and their caregivers (one person with a disability + one caregiver), who are citizens of the Member States of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, and the Member States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area,
3) to teachers of schools and institutions of the education system, correctional facilities, youth shelters, schools operating in the Member States of the European Union, the Swiss Confederation, and the Member States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, as well as schools run abroad by social organizations registered in the database maintained by an authorized unit subordinated to the minister responsible for education, teaching Polish language, history, geography, Polish culture, or other subjects taught in Polish in:
- schools operating within the education systems of other countries,
- Polish sections operating within the education systems of other countries,
- European schools operating under the Convention Defining the Statute of the European Schools, signed in Luxembourg on 21 June 1994;
4) to holders of the ISIC – International Student Identity Card and the Euro 26 Card,
5) under the nationwide Large Family Card (Karta Dużej Rodziny) and the Krakow Family Card 3+, the following are entitled:
- an 80% discount on regular ticket prices for permanent galleries and temporary exhibitions for: parents (including foster parents or persons running a family-type children’s home), the parent’s spouse, and children, including children under foster family care, as well as persons referred to in Art. 37(2) of the Act of 9 June 2011 on Supporting Families and the Foster Care System.
- free admission for children from large families up to the age of 18,
- free admission for students from large families up to the age of 25,
- free admission for a pupil or student holding a certificate of moderate disability,
- admission for 1 PLN for each pupil from a large family for a museum lesson,
- a 50% discount on participation in weekend family workshops for children from large families up to the age of 12,
6) Under the Krakow Card (Karta Krakowska), a 20% discount is granted on admission tickets to permanent exhibitions for regular, reduced, and family tickets.
7) Pupils and students up to the age of 26 are entitled to a ticket priced at 1 PLN (gross) for all permanent exhibitions at the Museum under the “Accessible Culture” program.
8) Employees of institutions entitled to a discount with the consent of the Director of the MNK based on signed agreements.
9) Employees of the MNK and their children are entitled to a 50% discount on educational workshops for individuals, including passes for educational cycles and museum lessons. (The discount does not apply to educational activities priced below 5 PLN gross.)
II. Free tickets for permanent and temporary exhibitions are available upon presentation of the appropriate documents:
1) individuals awarded the Order of the White Eagle, the War Order of Virtuti Militari, the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the “Gloria Artis” Medal for Merit to Culture, the “For the Care of Monuments” badge, the honorary badge “Distinguished Cultural Activist,” the honorary badge “Meritorious for Polish Culture,” or the honorary title “Meritorious for National Culture,”
2) employees of museums entered in the State Register of Museums,
3) members of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS),
4) holders of the Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka),
5) children under the age of seven,
6) veterans and injured veterans,
7) combatants,
8) Polish citizens who were anti-communist opposition activists or who were repressed for political reasons,
9) holders of special invitations issued by the Director of the National Museum in Krakow,
10) holders of “Free Admission Cards to All Museums Under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage,”
11) members of the Association of Art Historians,
12) members of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA),
13) journalists,
14) licensed city guides of Krakow,
15) employees of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage,
16) employees of institutions entitled to a discount with the consent of the Director of the MNK based on signed agreements,
17) holders of the Krakow Card for Families with a Disabled Child (also applies to educational classes),
18) academic staff conducting teaching activities in permanent or temporary exhibitions,
19) university students participating in classes held in permanent or temporary exhibitions.
§ 2
I. Documents confirming eligibility for a reduced fee or exemption from the entrance fee to museums are:
- school, student, listener, doctoral student IDs,
- retiree/pensioner IDs,
- disability certificates or disability degree IDs,
- service IDs,
- IDs confirming the awarding of badges, orders, or medals,
- certificates or IDs confirming combatant rights,
- ICOM Membership Card and ICOMOS Membership Card,
- the Pole’s Card (Karta Polaka),
- a document confirming age,
- press ID,
- guide ID,
- Large Family Card (Karta Dużej Rodziny),
- ISIC Card,
- Euro 26 Card,
- Krakow Family Card 3+,
- Krakow Card for Families with a Disabled Child,
- Krakow Card (Karta Krakowska).
II. A person entitled to a reduced fee or exemption from the entrance fee presents the cashier or ticket controller with a valid document confirming the entitlement, together with an identity card or other document confirming their identity.
III. Ticket inspectors carry out ongoing checks of tickets, invitations, and free-admission passes.
IV. Cashiers and ticket inspectors report directly to the Branch Manager of the Museum.
V. Media invitations are issued by the MNK Marketing Department.
VI. The admission ticket is a decorative print with a barcode or a receipt from the cash register.
VII. Pursuant to Art. 10(3) of the Act, the Director of the MNK may waive the entrance fee or grant permission for admission at the price of 1 PLN/person upon a written request of the interested parties. The Director may authorize MNK employees to grant such permission on his behalf, provided that the admission aligns with the mission and purpose of the MNK and, in particular, serves to make the collection available for educational purposes or to conduct educational activities for persons with disabilities or persons socially excluded.
