It is with great pleasure that we share the news of a special event that took place on May 29 at the Japanese Embassy in Warsaw. At the invitation of His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador to Poland, Beata Romanowicz, a curator at the National Museum in Kraków who has long been involved in the study and promotion of Japanese art and culture, delivered a lecture.
The event was an important part of the growing collaboration between the National Museum in Kraków and the Embassy of Japan, and provided an opportunity to discuss Japanese art and culture and its presence in Poland’s museum heritage.
Beata Romanowicz is the author of numerous scholarly publications and the curator of acclaimed exhibitions, including “Hokusai. Wandering” (2021) and “Utamaro” (2025). Her work was also recognized in the nationwide “Museum Book of the Year” competition—the album “Hokusai. Wandering… Japanese Woodblock Prints in Kraków” received the grand prize ex aequo for the best-edited museum book and an honorable mention in the “exhibition catalogs” category.
The event, attended by representatives from the worlds of diplomacy, culture, and academia, was not only a honor for Beata Romanowicz but also another important step in building our Museum’s international cooperation.
