A New Specimen of the Krakow Type Stater

Abstract: This article presents an analysis of a newly identified specimen of a Late Krakow type stater. It originates from the broadly defined vicinity of Krakow and is associated with the Late La Tène coinage of the Tyniec group. The Celtic coinage of Lesser Poland, which emerged outside the Boii’s main settlement area, is an important research topic that sheds light on the production of coins within prehistoric communities. Newly discovered finds provide valuable data on the production, distribution and characteristics of the local coinage.

Key words: Celtic Coinage, Boian Coinage, Tyniec Group, Krakow type stater
