MNK Czartoryski Museum
The National Museum in Kraków has joined the ‘Pink Box’ campaign. This initiative aims to improve access to feminine hygiene products. The first box was installed in July in the ladies’ toilet at the MNK Czartoryski branch.
The installation of the boxes was made possible thanks to the initiative of the ambassadors for social responsibility, our colleagues at the MNK Czartoryski Museum. We want to support girls and women in need, and we are delighted that the campaign has also reached our organisation. This oblong chasse-style casket was most likely made in the 19th century, modelled on medieval Middle Eastern artefacts. It is clad in copper sheet, partially silver-plated. The sides and lid are adorned with plaques depicting various animals, human-animal hybrids and mythical figures, such as centaurs. The depictions are framed by a border featuring floral and interlaced motifs. The border is partially detached and damaged. You can see this remarkable object on display at the MNK Czartoryski Museum’s Klasztorek, in the Medals Room.
