Zygmunt Mineyko (1840–1925) and His Gift of Ancient Greek, Roman, and Byzantine Coins to the Jagiellonian University
Abstract: In 1924, the Chair of Classical Archaeology at the Jagiellonian University received a gift of 63 ancient coins from the engineer Zygmunt Mineyko from Athens. The donor is known for his excavations in ancient Dodona and as a benefactor of several Polish museums and scientific institutions. The coins donated to the Jagiellonian University were published in 1976 by Stefan Skowronek, but without illustrations and with some inaccuracies. In this article, the coins has been re-identified and published with references to the relevant literature. An attempt is also made to answer the question of the origin of the donated coin collection.
