Quiet Hours at the MNK

We want to give our visitors a break from sensory overload. That is why, on the first Wednesday of every month, ‘Quiet Hours’ are in effect during the last two hours of opening at all MNK branches.

Quiet hours is an initiative designed for highly sensitive visitors, people on the autism spectrum, and anyone seeking peace and quiet in the Museum. During this time, music and multimedia in the exhibitions are switched off, and the lighting in non-exhibition areas is dimmed.

During quiet hours, group visits and guided tours are not permitted. Please switch your mobile phones to silent mode and avoid loud conversations.

Quiet zones

At MNK Czartoryski Museum, MNK Czapski Museum and MNK Ciołek, we have set up special quiet zones where visitors can rest. We also warmly invite you to our gardens at the MNK Mehoffer, MNK Czapski and Szymanowski branches of the National Museum in Kraków, and to the courtyard of the MNK Szołayski branch. We are working on introducing further quiet zones.

Quiet zones at the MNK Czartoryski Museum

In the quiet zone at the MNK Czartoryski Museum, there are sensory baskets containing items to help you de-stress, including a weighted blanket donated to us by VEST-POL POLAND Sp. z o.o. Sp. k. The weighted blanket applies pressure to the body, providing a sense of calm and relaxation. It helps to calm you down when you are overstimulated, reducing anxiety and making it easier to concentrate. The solutions implemented are consulted with local organisations and specialists, including: the JestemZA Association, the “ZACISZE” Association for Autistic Children, the Centre for Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorders in Kraków, the Autyzm Up Foundation, and Dr Andrzej Wolski.

Sensory baskets

Sensory baskets are available for visitors at MNK branches. As you begin your tour, you can choose items from the basket to help you relax and unwind. The baskets are available at ticket offices, cloakrooms or quiet rooms.
