An Ostrogothic Imitation of a Solidus of Anastasius I Found at Jeżewice
Abstract: Solidus of Theodoric the Great with the name of Anastasius I found during archaeological excavations in Jeżewice near Łabiszyn is the first find from the Migration Period on the Kuyavia-Pałuki border. The coin fits into the picture of contacts between northern Italy and Barbaricum at the turn of the 5th and 6th centuries. On the reverse, there is a scratched letter “Þ”, which is a monogram of the name Theodoric in the Gothic language.
Key words: Theodoric the Great, Anastasius I, Ostrogoths, Migration Period, Kuyavia
