What can be found in the MNK's sensory baskets?
The sensory basket was prepared by the Museum as part of the international Spectrum Project. People with ASD may be more sensitive or need an additional sensation to stimuli such as sound, light, smell, or touch. The objects in the basket help to calm down and concentrate on sightseeing by assisting with the stimulus experience.
- noise-cancelling headphones - they limit the flow of sound
- plush ermine - mascot
- pop-it - imitates bubble wrap for "snapping".
- kaleidoscope - stimulates vision
Sensory basket with equipment was financed within the project "Audit with syndrome" from the funds for the implementation of public tasks of the Malopolska Region in 2021 titled "Sensitive culture". The project was implemented by the Association of Parents and Friends of People with Down Syndrome "Rainbow" in Krakow in cooperation with MNK.
A visitor who needs an item from the basket may choose one or, in the case of the need to wear noise-canceling headphones, two items. If necessary, you can return to the checkout and exchange the item from the basket for another one.
The sensory baskets may be used by all Museum visitors. However, that priority is given to individuals with the autism spectrum disorder. By the end of your visit, please return the borrowed items from the basket. Once there will be disinfected, they will be available again for future guests.
