DIXIT MNK - THE OFFICIAL ADD-ON TO THE GAME WITH PAINTINGS BY POLISH MASTERS OF ART

Modern artists create unusual, meaningful paintings that perfectly spark the mind and allow you to dream up a wide range of connotations and discover them with your family and friends. However, classical art can be just as inspiring! A one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience the art from the collection of the National Museum in Krakow at home is a collaboration between our museum and partners: the Libellud studio (France), creators of the game, and the Rebel company, its Polish distributor. Classic art captured the minds of game fans for a moment. And there are many signs that it's just the beginning of the story.
Dixit: MNK contains 84 cards that you can use as an alternative Dixit deck or mix with a set from any base game. They feature fragments of artworks from the MNK collection, among them the famous: Leonardo da Vinci's Lady with an Ermine, Olga Boznańska's Girl with Chrysanthemums and Jan Matejko's Wernyhora. There are also a few surprises, from 17th-century landscapes to puzzling prints from the second half of the 20th century. It's a slice of the National Museum's collection of more than a million pieces - gathered for more than 140 years, the collection still surprises and awaits discovery.
PLAY BOARD GAMES AT THE MUSEUM
The fun doesn't end with creating of the game add-on. On the very first day after the official launch of the add-on, a mini-festival of board games - an unprecedented meeting of gamers of all ages, combined with creative tasks, guided tours and lectures, the creation of riders and competitions - was held in the heart of Krakow, at the Gallery of 19th Century Polish Art in Sukiennice. Visitors of Sukiennice had a chance that day to learn about and try out not only the new add-on, but the entire Dixit universe: Dixit, Stella, Mysterium and Dixit-Puzzle.

A very important part of the event was the display of our spaces and collections, although it happened differently than usual - the key to the selection was our extraordinary deck. PIerworks of Dixit cards hang in each of the Sukiennice rooms. The gallery showcases works by more than a dozen artists familiar with the Dixit deck, although not all are represented by the works we see on the cards.... who knows Dixit, will know why:)
IT'S NOT (JUST) A TOY
In the coming months you will hear about Dixit more than once. In October 2023, we will invite training courses for youth workers and teachers who want to incorporate the art cards into group activities.

Poland's Wikipedia has joined in the fun with the cards, creating a challenge for Featured Article Month (pl. Miesiąc Wyróżnionego Artykułu). By creating and developing entries related to the MNK collection, you can win a Dixit MNK add-on from Wikimedia Poland, a partner of the National Museum.

That's still not everything. Before winter comes, we will try to provide fresh news. You can find out about upcoming actions and events on the social media of MNK and Rebel Publishing House.

MYSTERIOUS MICHALINA JANOSZANKA
Did you know that the digital catalog of the National Museum in Krakow is also a place to publish texts about works of art? This is where we will be publishing new articles and materials about objects in the Dixit MNK deck.

The first text is already here! It's a sketch dedicated to a figure unique to us: the still not quite known Michalina Janoszanka. In it you will learn, among other things, in what other place in Krakow you can see some of the artist's works.
