EUROPEUM - guide
This publication was created to promote the new branch of the National Museum in Krakow where its collections of West European painting and sculpture are displayed. It is designed to enhance the visitor’s experience of the exhibition, though it is not a guide to it in the standar
It may also serve as an attractive souvenir of a visit to this venue, which also hosts concerts, lectures on art, and other workshops and classes for children and young people.
The foreword, by the museum’s director Zofia Gołubiew, includes information on the venue itself, a historic urban granary that has been thoroughly renovated and converted, giving this little gem of a building a new lease of life.
The essays by Dorota Dec and Janusz Wałek, curators in the Department of European Painting and Sculpture, address various of the groups of works on display in the EUROPEUM, drawing attention to the main aspects of their artistic value, themes and historical significance.
