The National Museum in Krak\u00f3w, as part of its promotion of the work of J\u00f3zef Skrzek and the legacy of the band SBB (originally the Silesian Blues Band, known as Szukaj, Burz, Buduj), invites you to visit the exhibition: \u2018SBB: The Road to Freedom\u2019, which will be on display at the MNK Szo\u0142ayski House on Szczepa\u0144ski Square from 21 November 2025 to 31 May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The curators of the exhibition at the National Museum in Krak\u00f3w are: Beata Cie\u015blak, Jacek Kurek and Zbigniew Gocek. It was within this group that the idea arose to broadcast a unique concert by the outstanding musician and composer on Katowice\u2019s Radio eM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Krak\u00f3w exhibition is the result of two significant anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of the band\u2019s formation (2021), which led to an exhibition at the Museum in Chorz\u00f3w (now the Museum of Metallurgy), a conference and a concert; and the 50th anniversary of the band\u2019s first album release (2024). At the time, a concert was held at the Siemianowice Cultural Centre (the band\u2019s regular rehearsal venue), a conference took place at the local Park of Tradition, and a book launch for Ze s\u0142owem biegn\u0119 do Ciebie<\/em> was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will not only be an opportunity to tell the story of Poland\u2019s most important rock band, to showcase the musicians\u2019 instruments, the equipment from Radio Opole\u2019s studio where they recorded their albums, as well as album covers and numerous memorabilia, but also to listen to the music available at specially prepared stations. It will also be a unique opportunity to examine the work of this outstanding band within the context of Polish and, more broadly, Central European musical culture, particularly that of the 1970s. After all, SBB\u2019s uncompromising artistic stance was a clear, heartening signal sent to those who, in the People\u2019s Republic of Poland, were yearning for freedom and challenging the reality of the time.
