\u201cToy Showcase\u201d is an exhibition of historic toys from the collection of the Sosenko family, curated by people drawn from the general public. This group of community curators have developed the concept of the exhibition, selected the objects, prepared the exhibition design, and written the captions. In recognition of the location in which exhibition is installed the display has strong references to the exhibition \u201cObjects. Gallery of Polish Design of the 20th and 21st Centuries\u201d presented at the Szo\u0142ayski House.<\/p>\n
The project\u2019s title refers to the glass vitrines which contain the toys selected during meetings between the curators and the collectors, Marek and Katarzyna Sosenko. \u2018Showcase\u2019 also refers to shop windows (where toys are displayed for sale), to the museum display case (where they can be viewed) and to the website [which in Polish is called \u2018witryna\u2019, or \u2018showcase\u2019] (which is a window onto the real world and which presents a field of unlimited opportunities for play and learning).<\/p>\n
Because the museum does not yet have a permanent home, the project has been organised with some of our partner institutions \u2013 Cricoteka Art Documentation Centre, Museum of Podg\u00f3rze (branch of the Museum of Krakow) and the Szo\u0142ayski House of Feliks Jasie\u0144ski (branch of the National Museum in Krakow).<\/p>\n
