The study focuses on the causes of the under-striking defect in the central part of the reverse of Krakow II type staters. An experiment was conducted on over one hundred samples, examining variables such as the number of strikes, the weight of the sample, and the diameter of the prepared flan. The experiment was carried out on volume equivalents made of tin and on silver samples. The possibility of striking a silver coin on both a cold and a heated blank was tested.
